Riddle Maps lead players to a Large Island with a 2-4 line riddles. Higher value Chests have a higher chance of appearing during higher level Voyages. The Players need to locate the X's and use their Shovel to dig up the buried Chest. The X Marks the Spot Maps lead players to Islands with X's that denote the location of buried Treasure Chests. Sometimes, the Quests are presented in Chapters.
The number of total Quests received is mostly dependent on the level of the Voyage, which is dependent on the Promotion rank of the player who bought the Voyage. These Voyages are the basic Voyages of Gold Hoarders, giving Player Crews one or more X Marks the Spot Map and/or Riddle Map Quests. Treasure Map Voyages are sold by Gold Hoarders Representatives at any Outpost.
These Voyages see Crews completing a series of one or more X Marks the Spot Map or Riddle Map Quests that lead to various Treasure Chests or Artefacts that can be sold back to the Hoarders for Gold, Reputation and Emissary Value. Treasure Map Voyages are Voyages offered by the Gold Hoarders Trading Company in Sea of Thieves.
